Edward Mazria, AIA, is an internationally recognized architect, author, and educator whose sensitivity to the healthy interaction between structures and the environment is emphasized in his designs.  The senior principal at architecture and planning firm Mazria Inc., Mazria’s most recent undertaking, Architecture 2030, is a global challenge to reduce fossil fuel consumption in architectural design and building construction.  His latest initiative, "The 2010 Imperative: A Global Emergency Teach-In," brought together 250 million people from 49 countries to discuss the science and effects of global warming and their relationships to building construction.  Mazria is the recipient of numerous awards, including American Institute of Architects (AIA) Design Awards, an AIA Design Innovation Award, Commercial Building Award from the Department of Energy, and an Outstanding Planning Award from the American Planning Association. He is a senior fellow for the Design Futures Council.  His publications include The Passive Solar Energy Book and articles placed in magazines and newspapers, including Metropolis and the Los Angeles Times.  His buildings have been noted in Architectural Record, Architecture, Process, The New York Times, and other magazines.  Mazria lectures on green architecture throughout the world and has taught architecture at several universities.
